ABSTRACT
The following tables summarize the results of the 2001 general election. The first provides details of the name of each competing party and the number of candidates it fielded. The second gives the number of votes cast for the major parties, the share of the vote, the % change in share since 1997, and the number of seats won and deposits lost. In each case data are given separately for the United Kingdom as a whole, Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales), England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
