ABSTRACT

The future of conflict: is small, smart, fast, precise, unconventional, and death is optional. The main danger facing today's military leaders is preparing to fight the war they want to fight versus the war they are going to fight. While the technology advantage will belong to US and its allies, decisions about when and where engagements will occur are likely to be relinquished to the adversaries. Not that they want it that way, but a host of external pressures will circumvent many decision-making processes. That is the nature of asymmetric warfare.
