ABSTRACT

When Wittgenstein, in the Investigations, brought to light the fluid character of the distinction between the simple and the complex, this was fatal to the theory of reality, language and thought of the Tractatus. But the Tractatus is only one book, one attempt to capture these fundamental concepts in the net of philosophical analysis. One failed attempt cannot prove that the ancient goal of philosophical analysis is impossible to attain.
