ABSTRACT
In this book we have presented our observations about what happened at Five Bridges after the school bell rings from a number of vantage points. Here we synthesize and appraise what we've learned. And we return to a question raised at the beginning of this book: to what extent do schools maintain inequality, and to what extent do they promote equality? Finally, we discuss teaching — what differentiates excellence from mediocrity?
