ABSTRACT

This chapter continues the discussion of the concept of social work in a host setting, that is, the legal system, that was begun in the preceding chapter. This chapter emphasizes the more subtle aspects of the relationships between social workers and attorneys. These take the form of metaphors, myths, and even stereotypes. These constitute the underlying and, for most purposes, the most important aspects of these working relationships. This chapter examines the issues that affect practice for both attorneys and social workers.
