ABSTRACT

On a simplistic level, for example, it is likely that a strenuous rock climbing expedition would be more appropriate for adolescents than for seniors. By the same token, Big Band music would tend to be more appealing to seniors than to adolescents. However, there is an inherent flaw in these examples: Within the groups of seniors and adolescents, there are bound to be exceptions to the generalizations. Therefore, it is not enough to know your audience based on simple labels. In order to be truly effective, practitioners must come to view any audience as an amalgamation of heterogeneous individuals.
