ABSTRACT
The existing research library infrastructure makes it difficult to measure investments in building collections of foreign language materials. Traditionally, ARL foreign language collections are organized around two principles: the area studies model for non-Western acquisitions and the more diffuse "disciplinary" model for Western acquisitions.
