ABSTRACT

Studies show that both male and female youths are involved in dating violence (Gamache, 1998; Roscoe and Callahan, 1985); however, young women are far more likely to receive the brunt of intimate violence (Lane and Gwartney-Gibbs, 1985). Adolescents who are at greatest risk to become victims of dating violence include those who are pregnant, young women of color, and teenage lesbians (Levy and Lobel, 1998; McFarlane, 1989; Rich, 1980; Waterman, Dawson, and Bologna, 1989; Yoshihama, Parekh, and Boyington, 1998).
