SincetheterroristattacksofSeptember11,2001,demandforsuchconsultationshasincreased,ashaveboththestakesandexpectationsfor theseconsultations.Psychologistsandpsychiatristsarenowbeing askedtoprovideconsultationinterrorism,intelligenceandespionage caseswherethewell-beingandlivesofhundreds,thousands,perhaps evenmillionsofpeoplehanginthebalance.Moreover,theyarebeing askedtofunctioninnon-traditionalrolesthat,whileservingthecritical interestsoftheUnitedStates,mayinsomeinstancesconflictwiththe standardethicalprinciplesofpsychologyandpsychiatry.
