ABSTRACT
A Reinterpretation of Newman’s ApproachThe model of voter behavior presented in Chapter 5 operationalized by the empirical method of discriminant analysis shows the influence of the seven cognitive domains on voter behavior. The model can also be presented as a simple regression analysis, in which a number of independent variables not related to one another influence the dependent variable. Cognitive domains in Newman’s original model are then treated as variables independent from one another.
