ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I describe the Game Design Project, a learning and research environment. In this project, students had extensive time, frequent occasions, and freedom of choice to engage in the design of their computer games. My intention was to investigate this project as a complex learning environment as well as a pedagogical intervention. I employed an integrative research methodology to capture and evaluate the students' learning and cognitive processes. The evaluation objectives and methods used are described in more detail in the last section of this chapter.
