ABSTRACT
In the preceding chapters, I presented the rationale for the general hypothesis that media's symbol systems can cultivate mental skills. I also provided empirical evidence to suggest that some coding elements can be made to have such effects, and that they also have some effects under common conditions of exposure, when the coding elements are sufficiently novel.
