Phonological and Orthographic Processes in Good and Poor Spellers

In this chapter we examine the skills and processes used by good and poor spellers as they learn to spell. More specifically, there is a need to determine whether good and poor spellers use similar or different processes in spelling, and the nature of these processes. A related question involves the nature of the cognitive abilities and skills in average and poor spellers.
