ABSTRACT
The dual notions of sampling and of making inferences about populations, based on samples, are fundamental to prediction and decision making in many aspects of life. Students will need a great many experiences to enable them to understand principles underlying sampling and statistical inference and the important distinctions between a population and a sample, a parameter and an estimate. 1
