ABSTRACT

In addition to seeking recognition from a wider audience by staging musical productions, the EWP incorporated sociocultural elements through innovative events, such as Made in America (which I discussed in Chapter V) and the Internment Camp Series (1981–82). The Internment Camp Series provided both the audience and actors with the space and time to commemorate the relocation experience during World War II, as well as to celebrate the victory of the redress movement in the 1980s.
