ABSTRACT
Studio One’s Backlot was a favorite nightspot for Hollywood celebrities, and when Charles debuted there in December 1979 the word soon spread that his show was a “must see.” A stream of Hollywood luminaries flocked into the club to see the show, including Bea Arthur, Alice Ghostley, Thomas Tryon, Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood, Richard Deacon, Dom DeLuise, Debbie Reynolds, and Charles Nelson Reilly.
