ABSTRACT
Just before Christmas Day last year, Bernard the turkey noticed that a lot of his friends at
the turkey farm seemed to disappear. He only discovered what had happened when he
found an old cookery book by the dustbins. Bernard has been planning his escape for
several months, looking carefully at bus and coach timetables. He has phoned the
‘Poultry Palace’ animal sanctuary in Devon. They’ve sent him a disguise and his bus fares.
