ABSTRACT
Logicians use the term 'SOUND ARGUMENT' for good reasoning. A sound argument needs two separate things:
TRUE PREMISES (input) - the reasons you give for what you're trying to prove
and
AN ARGUMENT WHOSE FORM IS VALID (method of reasoning).
If you have these, your reasoning will lead safely to a TRUE CONCLUSION (output). But if either is lacking, your conclusion is at risk.
