ABSTRACT
We develop in Part 4 the idea that we need systemic approaches to assessment. Here we want to begin making that case. As pressures on tutors increase it is necessary for them to adopt a strategic approach to:
the amount of assessed work they require
its forms
when it is required
submission deadlines
feedback to learners
the use of paid markers
assessing with other tutors.
