ABSTRACT

This is essential reading if you are to understand the principles on which your work is marked. Read the marking criteria carefully and think particularly about the phrases in italics. You will need to bear these in mind when you work through the sample essays in each subject section. It will be useful to think about which of the criteria reflect comments that have been made about your written work in the past, or that correspond to your own sense of your strengths and weaknesses as a writer.
