ABSTRACT
Copyright is a complex issue, and it is not the function of this chapter to provide a discourse on its legalities. It is important, however, to understand that for the most part everything you use to design, develop and build your Web-based learning materials has some form of copyright encumbrance attached. To help you better understand the issues of copyright, this chapter briefly outlines the copyright basics, including a definition of copyright and what is and is not protected by copyright.
