In the next two chapters, we will approach creativity from two very different points of view. In this chapter, we will define creativity and discuss four of the cognitive processes underlying creative acts: problem finding, idea generation, planning, and preparation. In addition, we will describe some procedures which can increase your problem finding and idea generation skills. In the next chapter, we will discuss the social conditions of creativity-that is, we will describe how society treats people differently according to their sex, religion, and race, and how this difference in treatment encourages or discourages creative activity .
