ABSTRACT

The subject and verb in a sentence must agree in number. A singular subject must have a singular verb. A plural subject must have a plural verb.

In English we generally use an s to make a noun plural. The singular cat becomes the plural cats. - -

But what makes English confusing is that we often do just the opposite with the verb. Notice in the following sentences that when the subject (horse) has an~' the verb (eat) has no s-and vice versa.
