ABSTRACT

Sea creatures such as crabs, lobsters, prawns, shrimps, cockles and mussels are called crustacea. Most of these crustacea have a hard crusty shell and several pairs of jointed legs. While some of these creatures like to live on the shore, others prefer deeper water. Crabs live in the sea and along the shore in rock pools. As they are sometimes found under rocks and seaweed, one or two will most likely have been discovered by the children on their trip to the beach. In the first activity, the children will be observing the abandoned empty shells of sea creatures that have been washed up on the beach.
