ABSTRACT

Children with speech and communication difficulties will spend most of their day alongside their peers. Despite this, it is often noted that such children tend to be orientated to adults and may lack friends amongst their peers. This may be because peers may not have the skills in facilitating and repairing conversations as described above or they may be unaware that they need to use them or they may not want to use them. Whether or not these peers also have difficulties in communication, they can provide role models and language opportunities.
