ABSTRACT

In recent years, partnership has become an important theme within education. The 1988 Education Reform Act was particularly influential in encouraging the increased involvement of parents and governors in the work of schools, and changes in the training of teachers have resulted in moves towards increased partnership between schools and training institutions. The term is now applied to many of the working relationships that exist in schools and nurseries, for example parent-teacher, teacher-trainee teacher, teacher-pupil, head teacher-governor and many more. The partnership that is particularly relevant to this book is that between teacher and assistant.
