The group work approach book
Chapter 3 looked at the assessment stage of the process. This first stage is applied at the beginning of any intervention. The second part of the programme is the group work. This is part of a planned intervention that should also include looking in detail at which areas of the curriculum are working well for individual pupils and areas where additional support or a change of groups may be beneficial. Working in groups and developing peer support are important elements of the programme. This chapter looks in detail at the approach used to introduce pupils to a group, and how to set up and maintain a group.
