ABSTRACT
The first approach to families about a child whose behaviour is giving cause for concern will have a major impact on the establishment of a good working relationship between home and school. The best chance of successful intervention is when parents and teachers can work together. Parents who are used to coming to school to hear positive things said about their children and generally feel welcomed and valued are likely to be more willing to discuss difficulties when they do arise.
