ABSTRACT

Being challenged with raising achievement, improving attendance and reducing exclusion is, by any stretch of the imagination, a daunting one. A pupil who has become disaffected and reluctant to engage in learning is by no means going to prove easy to re-motivate and may prove difficult to work with, so why on earth would anyone take it on? Simple — making a difference to a child's life, enabling them to move forward and progress and to see them succeed is one of the finest rewards that can be had. The question is — how do you do it? Well, in order to re-engage the child in learning the first step to take is to discover what may be causing the blockage!
