ABSTRACT

The world of investor relations brings together many disciplines, across accounting, finance, law, marketing and public relations. It is not the purpose here to become immersed in the intricacies of financial, accounting and stock analysis. However, there does seem value in narrowing down the aspects of the numerical side of financial communication to reveal the basic fundamentals that are part of the investor relations armoury and to bring out how they connect with developing a corporate story. For those from a non-financial background, this is intended to be a short cut through a wealth of detailed accounting and investment information and, for those for whom this is second nature, perhaps reveal the story that can be drawn from numbers to hone communication values.
