ABSTRACT
Modulations might be placed in half a dozen or more categories based on the way the chords at the tonal border function. A simpler approach-our approach-is based on the premise, stated in Chapter 17, that only two basic types of modulation exist-those with a common chord and those without. In this chapter we’ll endeavor to uncover the logic that underlies each modulation we encounter.
