ABSTRACT

The lion’s share of work on a lm project happens in preproduction. Actors are rehearsed, visual designs determined, shot coverage planned, and locations, props, set dressings, equipment are secured, and so on. All this activity is meant to ensure that everything and everyone you need to make the lm is in place when production is ready to go: this is the lm set. So many resources, people, and money converge during a relatively compressed period of time that everything must be well prepared. The days you have to shoot your lm are the most precious in the life of the project.
