ABSTRACT
Throughout the world today increasing numbers of people concerned with peace and social justice are describing U.S. imperialism as the commom destroyer of peace and justice. To some, the expression “U.S. Imperialism” appears as a cliche because it is not part of their own experience. We in the West are the beneficiaries of imperialism. The spoils of exploitation are the means of our corruption. Because imperialism is not part of our experience we do not recognise the aptness of the description for the economic and political policies of what President Eisenhower termed “the military industrial complex.” Let us consider briefly the nature of U.S. power.
