The Development of Criminal Behaviour book
The previous chapter looked at the way psychological theories have been applied to criminal behaviour. In this chapter, the focus shifts from theory to research as the primary means by which to progress towards an understanding of criminal behaviour. Since the early 1990s, studies that have utilised longitudinal research designs have contributed signifi cantly to our understanding of the complex processes involved in the development of anti-social and criminal behaviour. This research has not only increased our knowledge of the way in which criminal behaviour develops but has also infl uenced the theory.
