Mr. Williams smiled at Mr. Matthews and whispered, “That’s how we begin every class. They know to start paying attention.”
Turning back to his students, Mr. Williams reminded them that one of their benchmark tests was scheduled for the next day. Following a brief overview of strategies for studying the material in their texts, Mr. Williams asked the students whether they wanted to play a game. “Let’s see how prepared you are for the exam.” The students agreed eagerly.
