ABSTRACT
PROPER was the first large-scale environmental disclosure scheme in the developing world. It originated in the fourth most populated country in the world and has drawn considerable attention among academics and policy makers. To our knowledge, this book is the first comprehensive attempt to analyze PROPER using a variety of analytical approaches and information sources. In what follows, we first briefly summarize the main points of the preceding chapters, and then discuss the broader implications for policy.
