This concluding chapter proceeds in two sections. The first section deals with a summary presentation of the key findings of our analysis with regard to the tradeconflict relationship. The explicit consideration of conflict as a variable that influences or, more appropriately, chokes the process of economic integration in South Asia brings forth many significant revelations on how persistent hostilities can make ineffective the most positive attribute of a region with regard to its potential and abilities for economic exchange. We elaborate on each of the outcomes of our analysis in the first section. The second part discusses specific initiatives that, in the light of our findings, are considered imperative to take the idea of economic integration forward in South Asia. Lessons as available from comparative contexts of economic integration initiatives in other regions are also included so as to facilitate policy shaping in these critical areas.
