ABSTRACT

What lessons can be learned from the past three decades of public-private partnerships for major league sports facilities? How might public partners make better deals? What can we learn from these cities' experiences with major league sports that might also inform the broader context of strategies for urban development? This final chapter brings together the major findings of the book, and weighs their implications in the context of these questions and the framework of public-private partnerships. It concludes with a prospective look at the next cycle of facility obsolescence and replacement, a “fourth phase” in the design and development of major league sports facilities that could begin as early as 2020.
