ABSTRACT

A research design should be selected for its ability to answer the research question and test the research hypothesis.

T HIS CHAPTER COULD HAVE ALTERNATIVELY been titled “Now that I have a research question, what do I do with it?” Chapter 3 stated that social work research is about asking good research questions and answering them with confi dence. The choice of a research design, which serves as the blueprint for answering the research question, should always be guided by what the research question requires.
