ABSTRACT

Autumn is the time when we think immediately of changing colours and ripe fruits. The season begins around the 21st September and there is a mellow feel about the warm days that often occur. Garden flowers are still colourful and the warm sun sharpens the intensity of the changes in the leaves and flowers. There may also be days of gusty winds and rain. The days then get noticeably shorter and animals and plants begin to prepare for winter. Talk to other adults in the nursery about your childhood memories of autumn as well as your feelings about the season. By sharing your feelings with the children, you will encourage them to examine their own attitudes and develop self-awareness.
