The Global Financial Crisis and its implications

The Global Financial Crisis (GFC) started in the United States in the second half of 2008 and spread throughout the world in 2009 causing massive unemployment and recession in the whole Western Hemisphere. The crisis spread to developing countries and Russia plunged into recession even as China embarked on a huge fiscal stimulus package to rescue its economy from contraction.
