ABSTRACT
In this chapter, we study transitional economies, centrally planned economies in transition to market economies. This chapter helps in understanding the corporate governance problems China faced as it transited from planned to market economy and compares them with other transitional economies. There were both similarities and differences: similarities in the corporate governance problems faced and differences in the approaches to the transition.
