ABSTRACT
In the preceding chapters of this book, I have attempted to offer a three-fold perspective on the academic discipline of ‘European Studies in Asia’, or ‘European Union Studies in Asia’. This is still a very young discipline, which has largely grown out of the ‘Area Studies’ courses of an earlier time, whilst being integrated more strongly with the European Union’s wider cultural and political priorities in Asia.
