ABSTRACT
So far, the chapters of this text have discussed the five strands of ELA as if they were discrete skills to be taught one at a time. We know, however, that a comprehensive curriculum integrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening throughout the entire unit of study. This chapter discusses how to design a unit of study for a complete work using the activities and strategies discussed in Chapters 3.2–3.8.
