ABSTRACT

Domestic travel in several countries is what sustains the tourism sector and not international tourism. You might think of it as the ‘staple food’ or ‘bread-and-butter’ market for many DMOs and tourism sector stakeholders. While domestic tourism may not hold the same glamour for some destinations as international tourism, it is hugely important to many parts of the world. Moreover, many local people say they want to ‘discover their own countries fi rst’ before venturing abroad.
