ABSTRACT

Mitigation strategies reduce carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e)

emissions with the aim of avoiding the worst consequences of

climate change. Adaptation recognizes that some global warming

and climate change is inevitable and provides design strategies and

policies that are robust to future climate change. The combination

of mitigation and adaptation strategies as a means of limiting

atmospheric CO2econcentration at 450 parts per million (ppm) is

illustrated in Figure 5.1.
