ABSTRACT
The diplomatic history of the Vietnam War is littered with failed attempts to find a negotiated solution to the fighting. Literally thousands of initiatives, both official and unofficial, were pursued by a variety of individuals and organizations. Despite their often valiant efforts, it took until 1973 for an acceptable settlement to be achieved and for the US to withdraw from Vietnam.
