ABSTRACT
Sex offending is considered to be one of the most offensive crimes in our society. The assumption that sex offenders are very dangerous individuals, more likely than other offenders to recidivate, and especially to recidivate sexually, is rooted in social preoccupation, rather than in scientific evidence.
