ABSTRACT
This chapter presents a case study of the drawing of lines in the sea. While the negotiations have been complicated it should be noted that, even though national interests run deep, agreements on seabed boundaries, fisheries boundaries and a joint development zone have been achieved under international law, and that at no point have warships been deployed – as they have, for example, in the South China Sea and East China Sea disputes referred to in Chapter 6. 1
