ABSTRACT

This sixth and last driver is concerned with ensuring that all the ‘dots’ we have looked at under the previous five drivers are also connected with the ‘financial dots’ of the organization. When we discuss finance, we must be careful not to confuse financial management with financial results. The latter of course follows from the former; it will be obvious that good results will not be achieved without good management. But good financial management is about more than managing cash-flow or assets or balance sheets. To achieve performance excellence, financial management needs to consider the points listed in Box 9.1. Financial planning, reporting and control, risk management: these are some of the issues on which managers need to focus when considering the financial driver. Box 9.1 FINANCIAL DRIVERS
